I was born in West Texas, grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and haved lived in Brooklyn, NY for about 10 years. I make sculptural and functional objects, primarily using technique of coiling rope and sewing it together with a sewing machine. A very wide variety of things, but at the core is a deep interest and fascination with the creation and formation of space. The fascination can be with a space like the grand canyon, a house, a mars rover, or a basket. I love my work because, the work I've been focused on since 2010 converges many of my interests, skills, sensibilities and tendencies into a single practice that allows me a broad range of exploration by utilizing a relatively specific set of actions and tools. It's important to have strong and defined long term goals that really compel you. They can be, and should be, as ambitious as you want but they should be rooted in . They will give you a big-picture perspective that will guide you through all of the day-to-day decisions and seemingly mundane tasks that must be done. Work very hard. Don't sacrifice your values for short-term rewards - stay focused on the big picture. Work even harder to constantly improve, but take time and real measures to avoid burnout and keep your desire alive. Lastly, push your work to be a method of inquiry and as a vehicle for personal growth. It should challenge you to reconsider who you are and your place in the world. Listen to your work and listen and learn from others. This will eventually make your work a genuine product of your unique experiences.
