Charlene Man | Illustrator

Hong Kong

I am originally from Hong Kong, moved to Nottingham in UK when I was 13 and now based between London and Hong Kong. I have been working as a freelance illustration in the last 5 years. Recently, I have been focusing more on drawings and paintings and working towards exhibitions. I have a new solo show SMALL THOUGHTS coming soon in Taipei, Taiwan in early May. Either short breaks or holidays are both good for me to get inspiration. Take a Break! I think it’s very important to know when to stop and take a rest. It keeps my mind fresh and gives me the time and space to think about what I have done and what I could do to make it better. I love what I do because it makes me so happy everyday to know that I can wake up and get on with work that I am passionate about and work whenever I want and stop whenever I want. I love the freedom but also I want to share the happy feelings to everyone. I hope when people see my work they will find it inspiring but not only artistically, mentally too. My words of advice to other would be, if you want it, ask for it. A key thing I have learnt in the past is that “you never get what you don’t ask for”. Instead of sitting there and waiting for opportunities to come, I would rather go and get them myself.
